The Heinlein Prize Trust and Commercial Spaceflight Federation invite you to participate in the Have Space Suit - Will Travel Writing and Art Contest!  Legendary science fiction author Robert Heinlein had a vision for future generations in space and a commitment to inspire future space enthusiasts. The mission of the Heinlein Prize Trust is to promote the Heinlein dream of the commercialization of space.  The Have Space Suit Will Travel program aims to develop the next generation of space enthusiasts by encouraging students to read the Heinlein classic novel  “Have Space Suit Will Travel” and re-imagine the future of space!

Topics

As space and technology industries continue to blossom amidst a new space age, science fiction becomes ever more critical as both useful analog and inspiration for those who interact with space and the next generation of space leaders.

 

With this in mind, write an essay, poem, or create a piece of artwork inspired by the works of Robert A. Heinlein and his relevance today. How did Heinlein influence space? How did he inspire school-age students to be interested in space?

  • Entries are due by to be Announced.

  • Students in grades 6-12 may participate.

  • Submissions can come in the form of:

  1. A 750-1,500 word ESSAY

  2. A collection of 3-5 POEMS

  3. A piece of original ARTWORK
